Part Time Dog Walker - 30 hours per week - Salary £12,480 pa plus training and benefits
ForPaws has an exciting opening for an energetic dog enthusiast in the Guidford or Godalming area. Principle duties will be group dog walks (equipped with our very smart van) but there will be opportunity to become involved in training and behaviour work for those with enthusiasm and aptitude. We will provide full training and will fund formal training through the APDT - which opens the doors to a whole new career.
The successful applicant will have a full clean driving licence and will need to meet the physical aspects of the role which can be quite demanding. You must live in or near to Guildford/Godalming as you will be visiting multiple clients in the area each day. You must be available Monday-Friday each week (we will consider job share applications either individually or in a pair). You will hold a current DBS certificate, or be happy for us to process one on your behalf.

Each day will start just before 10, when you will log on to our automated systems to receive your task schedule for the day so that you can be on the road by 10am. You will follow a route calculated by our on-board computerised system to pick up dogs for the first walk of the day. We have a wide variety of approved walks in the beautiful Surrey countryside which we regularly review for safety and maximum dog enjoyment. After dropping the dogs back home after the first walk, you will pick up others en route for your second walk of the day. You will then drop all dogs home, texting owners to let them know about their dogs lovely day and be finished normally by 4-5pm.
We have a strong safety culture and are passionate about animal welfare. We are strictly demand FORCE FREE handling, and we will provide you with training in this.
We stress the need to be physically fit, as handling dogs and walking two hour long walks a day in rain (or heat) can be physically demanding. In return we offer:
- A salary of £12,480 per year for 30 hours a week, overtime to be paid at £8 per hour.

We are looking for a new addition to our team!
The person that we are looking for will be a real dog lover who understands that all dogs are individuals and deserve to be treated as such! No two of our doggy clients are the same, which is what makes this job so much fun! You will hold a current DBS certificate, or be happy for us to process one on your behalf. You will also have a full clean driving licence, as well as your own car, fully insured for business use and you must be available Monday-Friday each week You must live in Guildford or Godalming (or very nearby) as you will be travelling to multiple clients in these areas up to 5 days a week. You need to be enthusiastic, approachable, friendly and love building up professional relationships with our dogs and their owners.
The role that we are looking to fill is a new role. Initially you will start work with us as a contractor, covering extra and ad hoc bookings. As our full time dog walker expands her training schedule, we envision you will take over 1-2 days a week of her walks as an employee (meaning you drive our ForPaws van) and eventually moving to a full time role with us, although for the right person we will happily consider a job share. We also would like you to be an assistant for our dog training classes on Wednesday evenings and the occasional Saturday.
In return we offer good rates of contract pay, full training and the chance to be part of a fun and friendly team. If you progress to being an employee, you will have all of your costs covered, be paid £8 an hour and be offered the opportunity to begin training as a dog trainer, as we will coach you and pay for your training with the APDT. You will also be fully covered by our business insurance.
